Members of her family were all doctors\, pharmacists\, and nurses and she was always encouraged to choose something practical for her career\, something guaranteed to provide an income. But even at a young age she was stubborn. \nShe graduated Cum Laude from Andrews University in Berrien Springs\, Michigan\, in 2005 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts\, emphasis in painting. She then worked mainly as a residential mural artist until things started to get tough and she finally decided she had better get what many called a “real” job. She went back to school and earned an Associates of Applied Science degree in\nradiography. She began working as a teacher at the local community college\, teaching anatomy and physiology. She also worked part time at an orthopedic clinic. \nKatrina often used her art skills in the class room\, including drawing anatomy study guides for her students. Art was her joy even as she settled down to do what “normal” people do. She didn’t for one moment though give up on her dream of being a professional artist. \nKatrina moved to North Dakota 10 years ago where her dedication and determination has paid off. Since her move her art has taken off and has become her full-time job. She has worked with\nauthor Clay Jenkinson in the creation of several books about North Dakota. Including the cover artwork for his most recent book\, The Language of the Cottonwoods. As well as providing illustrations for several of his publications. She has also written her own book My Ten-Minute Journey. Which was released at the end of 2024. It is a book about a special journey through an artistic experience. She has had several group and solo shows in both North Dakota and Michigan. She has placed in several juried shows across the country. Including an international juried competition in Spain. She was not only in the final top ten out of hundreds of artists\, but she was also the only finalist\nfrom the United States. \nKatrina has built her own online store\, KatrinaCaseArt.com She had more than 3.8 million views on her Google+ profile in the 3 year it was active. Facebook fan page with over 8k followers.  In\n2014 she was accepted as an artist on ArtFinder.com\, which has enabled her to sell artwork to countries worldwide. Australia\, Great Britain\, Norway\, Brazil\, China\, Newfoundland\, Denmark\, New Zealand\, Columbia\, and Canada to name a few. \nKatrina has a passion for creating artworks for non-profits to help them raise funds. She has donated paintings for organizations across the country\, including Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library\, Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters\, the Make a Wish Foundation\, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation\, Mid-Michigan Community College Foundation\, and the Coalition to Stop Violence\nagainst Native Woman\, among others. \nShe is currently a guest artist at Dakota Fine Art in Fargo\, ND and a permanent artist in residence at The Capital Gallery in Bismarck\, ND. She also is a member of Bismarck Art and Galleries Association and Bismarck Downtown Artist Cooperative. She has previously displayed artworks in galleries across Michigan and in San Juan\, Puerto Rico. \nKatrina draws inspiration from the magnificent sunrises and sunsets on the open plains. She considers North Dakota her home. One she never plans on leaving. Katrina paints a wide variety of subjects in a many different styles. Her favorite are landscapes and wildlife in a realistic to impressionistic style. \nArtist Statement \nNo matter where life takes me\, I vow to never stop using my art to help others. The talents we are given are meant to be cultivated and to be used to improve the lives of our fellow humans. It\nis a greater gift to give of these talents than it is to use them simply for personal gain. I am inspired by the landscape around me. By the rhythmic beating of the Great Plains. And by the relationships I have developed over my lifetime. I am in a constant state of growing as an artist and a person. Always looking for ways to\nimprove. Oils are my passion\, but can create in acrylic\, graphite\, ink and watercolor as well.
