SUMMARY:"Flow & Pop" Gallery Open House and "Hello Girls" Preview
DESCRIPTION:Regional Artist Katie Vasbinder’s work will be on display in the Long X Arts Gallery June 30-Aug 25 2023. Celebrate with us at our Open House event. Stop in to the gallery for refreshments and to take a first look at Vasbinder’s ceramic work. \nAt 5:00 pm we will be previewing the Fargo/Moorhead Community Theater’s show “The Hello Girls\,” a musical that will be playing in the Watford City High School Theater on Saturday\, July 8. Meet the cast and see a sample of the show\, purchase your tickets and join us on the deck. \nThen stick around to try your hand at Vasbinder’s bubble glazing technique. At 5:30 pm we’ll be hosting a bubble glazing class with Miss Jess. Create a bowl in this technique for only $15! Open to all ages. Click here to register for that class. \nAbout Katie Vasbinder \nI am a practicing artist\, a licensed architect and a grateful mom. I was born and raised in Central Minnesota\, traveled a bit here and there\, and currently live in North Dakota. I have a variety of mediums I work with in my studio\, from acrylic paint to ceramic clay. I enjoy practicing both art and architecture and feel they dance with each other in my head\, taking turns with the lead. \nThese process-based ceramic pieces are the result of continuous experimenting and play in my studio. I enjoy the endless ways you can create with clay and glaze. These particular pieces are made with marbling glaze through a bubble glaze technique. After a base coat of glaze is applied\, a contrasting color is combined with soap and blown into bubbles that pop around the piece\, leaving a marbled-like imprint. The result is an organic type of liquid air design. Placed on functional pieces\, this technique creates an interesting juxtaposition between the practical and play. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n
